Mt Scott Fire Lookout
Administrative agency: Crater Lake NP
Staffing status: it was reportedly staffed somewhat in 2000 however, it was not staffed when I visited, and did not look like it was in staffing condition, it is not scheduled to be staffed in 2002
Elevation: 8929ft
Structure:
1952
two story
NPS cab
Access: the trailhead is signed, it is a 2.5 mile hike to the tower
Road conditions: the road to the trailhead is paved
Interior: ???
Other structures on summit: none, even the propane tanks were missing
Electrical power source: several aging solar panels a present likely to power the radio repeater, the panels have been mounted in a way which will not allow the shutters to open on the south side
Other: this is presently the highest LO in Oregon, the view of Crater Lake is nice, the tower does need some work, hopefully the park service will pay more attention to it once they are done with the Watchman
Visited: Dominic Luebbers in July 2001
